The Wednesday Top 10: EDM Tracks.

Friends, Romans, Countrymen, keep you ears on and learn to appreciate them. Every Wednesday I will attempt to soften the mid week blues with a top ten of something musicish. (As for now musicish is a word, no arguments.) This week I'm starting off simple, with a list of the music that I am frankly most familiar, Electronic Dance. I am slightly ashamed of myself for calling it EDM but y'now, that's the done thing nowadaws... (yes, most of these are radio edits, not extended mixes.)

10: Knife Party: Bonfire. Don't believe the negative hype surrounding Knife Party. These guys are one of the few reasons Australia isn't cut off from the rest of the world. That and Koalas. This is one serious Reggae-Inspired Dubstep tune. (Yes its technivally Drumstep but read the article about subgenres...) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-IWRmpefzE

9: Madeon: Finale. I would have put Icarus just for the drop, but in my book Finale is the more rounded tune. The second piece of what is technically Drumstep (Half Time DnB) Its the Melody that makes this one stand out for the French Wunderkind. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0h2u87JwyA

8: Zedd: Spectrum. Progressive House in the house! Definitely a break from Zedd's normal work, this is one catchy tune, filled with trance chords and electro drops. Interestingly the vocal is actually a man, (though you wouldn't believe ithttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEp9MCQlAa4

7: Eric Prydz, Niton. This is how progressive house is. This is how it shall be forever, providing the legend that is Eric Prydz goes on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sUW2TXfOwg

6: Feed Me: Grand Theft Ectasy. There's, catchy, and then there is this. This is probably infectious, and potentially deadly. Unless armed to rave, stay away... Cheesy taglines aside, this is one hell of an electro-house tunehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UiMrCphoMY

5: Wolfgang Gartner: Illmerica. The formant lead to end all formant leads. Simple, end ofhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgBKuPG4KZs

4: Tiesto: Maximal Crazy. Tiesto, that trance DJ that could divide families on the opinions of "shite" and "I worship him". Post 2010, there is now one opinion: "Epic." Enter Maximal Crazy, the catchy, amazing slice of awesomenesshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AxI4rxCf2E

3: Swedish House Mafia: One. By now we're getting into the super-tunes. The arena-filling mega bangers. I haven't heard this track, you have not breathed oxygen in the last 10 yearshttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1EOGzzLy8U

2: Mord Fustang: Windwaker. Massive electro house! A big melody and a gargantuan dropped, all produced so immaculately it probably causes kittens to cry of joy, probably. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KobbM94mXbo

1: Porter Robinson: Unison.  Here we are, no 1, and all necause it is THE best melody in the history of dance music. Do not argue, this is not a democracy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_J3WWYp8Gc
